My siblings and I bought Portal TV and Portal+ with a 15.6 inch touch screen for our elderly mother. Repeated. Portal+ was good because it has Zoom, but Zoom required quite a bit of manual work for each call, which was too much for an older person. Without an adapter it was so-so - there were occasional connection problems and such. It was worse with adapter - more connection issues, HDMI-CEC rarely worked (not never, which would be more acceptable, but it was rarely uncomfortable knowing it could/should work), green lines on TV, TV turns on by itself and off etc. So we brought it back and tried Portal TV, thinking its only purpose was to connect to the TV. We tried so many combinations of so many things and after a while just gave up and sent this one back too. We repurchased the original touchscreen version knowing it had major flaws and hoping we only had a few bad models. When it works, my mom enjoys video calls with her kids across the country. Instead of working as expected (with voice commands calling each of us via WhatsApp), more than ever, when the device isn't working, one of the kids who lives near them has to pull up and run it at random. through trial and error. Wildly uncomfortable, but for her pleasure. And their technical support. Well it's a joke. I spent a few months with them - I shared an issue with their TV's specs and within a few days they responded asking what the problem was or what the specs of the TV were. I replied again and received no reply for over a week until I emailed them again. I would tell them that it only works properly once right after factory reset, so they suggest I factory reset it to see if that solves the problem. They responded by asking for information they had already asked for and sometimes describing a solution to a problem I never had. And they go away again for a week until I email them again. They asked me to reboot the router which I told them is a pension complex router and I don't have access so they explained to me what a router is.
