Review on Dell UltraSharp U2711: 27 Inch Widescreen Monitor with High Resolution, Anti-Glare Display by Jared Clayton

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great all round monitor

The product arrived safely and within 7 days via standard shipping. I wanted to buy a 27" Apple Cinema Display but realized I needed a new graphics card for my 2008 MAC PRO - pretty ridiculous. So after some research I decided to try Dell (PC world - oops). It was one of the few monitors with a resolution of 2560 pixels and a similar price. I use it mainly for my music applications (I'm a professional musician and I work 12 hours in front of my computer. I had a 20" ACD and feel like that doubling the monitor size after upgrading to a 27" 2560 is totally worth the extra money. Yes, you could probably buy a 2x23" monitor for the same price, but I'd rather have a huge monitor that would fit my whole would draw attention than always tilting my head to one of the two monitors. Text is crisp, but not ULTRA sharp as the name suggests. Apple probably has has the upper hand when it comes to text clarity and contrast. I don't think you can argue with him. The anti-glare display may please some and displease many professionals who just can't stand the uncomfortable reflections from across the room. Using a 20" anti-glare ACD I found the coverage to be ok. There is absolutely no shine. Maybe that's why Apple's display is a bit sharper. An anti-reflective coating can make text a little blurry. I've been using it for a week, 12 hours a day, and all is ok Connection is excellent DVI, HDMI, VGA, 4 USB ports and a card reader The monitor stand is metal (not like cheap Samsung plastic) - and compared to Apple it's height adjustable and you can adjust it to your liking turn left and right and everything is GREAT! No drivers needed, no extra cables needed Works right out of the box Highly recommended.

Pros
  • ‎2560x1440
Cons
  • Monitor cables are too short.
