Does the job very efficiently. I have a long 16 foot sea kayak on J bars. The lasso goes easily on both ends with a decent amount of slack in the middle. I just wrap it around the bars 2-3 times, it fits snugly into the center combination lock slot. It's easy to set the combo at launch and works like a charm. So far I've only used it on one trip. The lock works as expected, but overall I wish I didn't have something else to put on and take off the kayak. Even installing it on the roof and fixing it with two straps takes a lot of time. The lasso is an extra step that I don't use often. On this trip I was particularly concerned because I had to park the car + kayak in a busy parking lot for several hours. If I just stopped for a while I wouldn't care.
