Good cable, I recommend.

Great design, nice strong cable. I use it to attach a Wilderness Systems Pungo 120 kayak to my J-Hook style kayak racks and Yakima rack. The trick is figuring out how to get the cable slack so it can't slip off either end of the kayak. I played with it for about 1/2 hour before I got a better technique. I would recommend this cable but it may not fit all types and sizes of kayaks.

Pros
  • Cool product
Cons
  • Without machine

One size may not fit all

This product does not fit my kayak (Bass Pro Ascend D10) although it is well made. No matter how tight the locking cable is, I can still remove one of the lasso loops from the end of the kayak after the product is locked. This may well be due to the width of the kayak not allowing the straps to extend very far from the ends of the kayak. This product may work well with other brands or styles of kayaks, but unfortunately not mine.

Pros
  • Fits me great
Cons
  • Updates available

Nice enough but too long.

This is nice and gives some security if you are parking expensive kayaks in the hotel lot overnight. They are slightly longer for both the 12' (28') wide pleasure kayak and the 14' (24') wide transition kayak. I had to wrap the cord around the stand several times to make them secure. As a versatile product I think this is what you should expect and too long is better than too short but I wish they had a better length adjustment method to make them safer.

Good fit for my 18ft touring kayak

Worked great for my 18ft touring kayak for a year. Today the castle is blocked. The reset mechanism works (can rotate 90 degrees to reset and back) but when the right combination is set the other side doesn't go in far enough to jam. I can order another one, just disappointed that it suddenly stopped working. Update: Turns out there was enough dirt on one end of the lock that it wouldn't close properly. I took an ice pick, some cotton swabs, some water and struggled to get clean. Can't remember

Works perfectly! - Kayaking

I'm not even sure HOW you lock a kayak on a roof rack without a lasso. I couldn't figure it out at first (when I searched the web) but I read the reviews and in fact it really works and it works just fine. The lock comes with a handy carry case, and it's also nice that there's a built-in combination lock (half on each lasso) so you don't have to keep track of the padlock. Long enough for my 14.5ft kayak and long enough for a longer kayak. Powerful, durable, no complaints, glad I got it! If this

Works great with some extra parts.

I have 2 Wilderness Systems Pungo 120's that are about $800 each so $100 for (2) lasso isn't too bad for insurance. There is 6ft 8in of cord from the point where the lasso connects to each end. This will help secure the kayak to the roof rack. You'll need to wrap 13ft 4in around the car rack to prevent someone from ripping the lasso off the ends and stealing your kayak. If you need to secure the kayak around a tree or pole, you will need an additional 15ft cable lock to keep the lasso in placeโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Modern

Does the job but still has something to put on and take off when kayaking

Does the job very efficiently. I have a long 16 foot sea kayak on J bars. The lasso goes easily on both ends with a decent amount of slack in the middle. I just wrap it around the bars 2-3 times, it fits snugly into the center combination lock slot. It's easy to set the combo at launch and works like a charm. So far I've only used it on one trip. The lock works as expected, but overall I wish I didn't have something else to put on and take off the kayak. Even installing it on the roof andโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • A few minor issues
