It's nice to find a case that doesn't have a huge silicon pad at the top or bottom for the Apple Pencil. The stand is stable and easy to hold in place (no adjustment needed). The cover's locking tab folds back and attaches to the back with a magnet to keep it off the screen during use. The magnetic backing is strong enough to hold the flap without dropping the iPad. But if you try to lift the iPad from the back (iPad faces down by pulling the flap up), the iPad detaches, see video. So I think take it like a normal person and don't go the lazy way, then you're good. My old silicone case did this too, so unless you buy a very reliable hard case it will never work for sure anyway.
