The socket on my balcony is at one end, but I have lights in various places along the balcony railing. I attached the cable to the railing and can connect the light via additional sockets. When not in use, they also have outlet covers. The only downside is that the three outlets in each location are close together, and some of the plugs are now custom-sized, making it difficult to plug in three cords at once without using a short extension cord. (Sorry if that's a bit confusing. It's still a great product.
