Excellent product. You are replacing one of the standard nuts with the custom nut/bolt you just removed. This new nut/bolt has a raised lip around the end of the bolt to engage the latch. I should mention that the lock pairs easily with your Jeep keys, it's very simple so you don't have to keep track of another key. In addition, there is a metal collar around the spike to protect it from damage. I'm VERY concerned about security, so I put a large washer on the bolt between the wheel and the lock. This washer completely covers the bolt access hole. This add-on might require a small tap to secure the lock, but it prevents someone from grabbing a metal sleeve with a couple of vices, pressing the ring very hard onto the bolt, and then removing the entire lock and bolt, giving you the defeat reason buy it. If a thief wants something strong he will steal everything but with my extra washing machine I feel safer but I'm sure they will move to the next jeep that doesn't have a lock with just a lock. DO NOT BUY these so-called nuts, they are easy to beat and unlikely to slow down a pro.
