My son chose this as a gift for my 3 year old daughter (mainly because he wanted it for himself). It has been in our house for a few months and is used almost constantly. My daughter takes it everywhere, even to bed. My son who is 5 loves it just as much and I would happily buy another one as there is constant debate. Contrary to other posts I've read, I want to make sure others considering this purchase know that the leash is DETACHABLE. Ours get put on and taken off all the time and have held up well for months. So far we've been able to keep track of most of the little treats, largely thanks to constant monitoring and rationing on my part. As mentioned, it would be great if you could buy a replacement. That being said my daughter really enjoys feeding her pup our cat food which thankfully is small enough to easily get through. From time to time she would "feed" it some stuck objects, like Lego bricks, but I managed to pull them out with tweezers and a screwdriver without causing any permanent damage. I'm sure she'll eventually put something in it that I can't get out, but I have to give credit to the people who designed this simple toy. I didn't read the instructions very well when we got the pup and only recently discovered that he makes nice, realistic sounds with extra batteries. I think it's adorable enough without the sound effects, but they made the pup even more engaging for my kids.
