I like the principle but I have found that this and 2 other ratchet straps, all from different manufacturers, slipped during use and required frequent re-tensioning. Apparently a belt's teeth, formed by the compression of leather, cannot be trusted as much as metal teeth, but metal teeth will wear down the fabric pressed against the belt more than leather teeth. Bottom line, it's better to go for a good old-fashioned strap with a shaft through an eyelet in the strap.
