Not leather - still ok.
I've owned enough leather products in my life to know the real thing, and this is definitely not it. For me that's actually a plus, because I'm heading to a hot & humid climate where leather is a liability. I still couldn't help but feel a little disappointed by the stiff & plastic-y band, though. But it actually fits my small wrists (5 3/4") with two notches left, where many of the bands advertised for 5 1/2" wrists are too big. so that alone makes it a keeper!
