Just wanted to help people who are dealing with all the USB-C and Thunderbolt confusion. An easy way to remember. Thunderbolt output (e.g. computer) to USB-C device (monitor etc.) works (TB -> USBC). USB-C output to Thunderbolt does NOT work (USBC -> TB). I bought it as it was the cheapest Thunderbolt dock I could find. My computer (Dell Inspiron 13 7378) only has one USB-C port and I wanted to be able to connect a 15.6 inch ASUS ZenScreen portable monitor with 1080P resolution (MB16AC). I could just plug it into a USB-C port, but I use a hub port. I know I could just buy a Type A USB hub, but I wanted the challenge ;-). Monitor over dock and it worked great. If the device you're docking has a Thunderbolt controller (not USB-C), this should work.
