Review on πŸ“± SCOSCHE MPQ2OH-XTSP Magnetic Phone Mount Charger for Mobile Devices - MagicMount by Nicholas Dobson

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Bracket too short for windshield tilt - will not fit through silicone boot.

I'm a mechanic. I can usually get things to work the way I want with a bit of reengineering. Not in this case. The product itself is of good quality. If you have a smaller/lighter/not thicker case or panels on the outside or on a bare phone this will probably work just fine. It's well made and has a good mounting system with template guides that allow small panels to be mounted straight and in the right places. But if you have a larger phone and especially if you have a case, this may not work for you. Read on for magnet issues and short arm lengths that limit the angle of the phone. The main issue I can't solve is that the magnetic charger doesn't even hold the phone close to the Otterbox due to the thickness of the outer silicone coating. Two issues with the Galaxy S9 Defender case. The top magnetic plate, which was already factory modified (cropped) to bypass the fingerprint scanner on the phone itself, needs to be further modified (cut and moved some more) to bypass the extended beveled cutout on the guard. sleeve. Using ultra-thin strong magnets instead of metal didn't help either. This way the phone hardly sticks to the magnetic base. The game is over. BUT - another problem I found is that even if I could adjust the magnet system to hold very hard, the short length and non-adjustable angle of the suction cup base causes the phone to bang against the windshield, when the angle is adjusted upwards. And I don't want my phone's screen sloping downwards, I want it to be at the perfect angle to reduce glare while driving and still allow for an easy touch of the screen. PLAN B The plan (idea) was to use a separate wireless charger for many years. Base and attach to my existing and longtime favorite RAM Mounts windshield mount. It will take some time, but it will hold up in the end, as the RAM Mount is always attached to a quality suction cup mount with four spring-loaded arms and a long articulated arm. I just put it off and hoped RAM would come up with their own magnetic charging mount design that I'll make myself. The only design feature of the RAM mount is that it requires two hands to install or remove the phone. It is, but worth it. The benefit of the magnetic mount is that it only requires one hand, which is just super cool. But if it doesn't support wireless charging, then what's the point? I had high hopes for this slanted mount. But my Galaxy S9 in the Defender Case is too big and too heavy for this product. case is closed.
