I don't understand why they say this is a slow ride. Your PC/Laptop probably does not support SATA. IIII didn't bother to test the drive after installing it in my MacBook Pro in early 2011. This is at least three times faster than a standard 750 GB 5400 rpm drive. That's all that matters to me. My SSD already had the latest firmware. No need to update. Many people here clone their old hard drive to new SSD. No wonder they complain about slow work. The hard drive needs to be repartitioned and reinstalled in order for it to reach its full potential. You should never clone a mechanical drive to an SSD. I went with the 512GB version so I don't have to worry about space issues in the future. Early 2011 MBP models fully support SATA III. I checked that it works with the system report, so there is no problem with that. The hallmark of OSX is that programs, unlike Windows, are not bloated and take up relatively little space once installed. Even with Final Cut Pro, the full Adobe CS6 suite, Office, and a few other programs and games, my drive doesn't even use 20% of the available capacity. If you go for the 256GB version, you should still have plenty of space even after you've installed all your programs. As this is not an Apple approved brand of SSD, Trim support must be enabled after installing the operating system. One more thing to do after installation: Turn off hibernation to avoid unnecessary disk usage. Lots of tips to increase the lifespan and performance of your SSD online. I strongly recommend you buy this disc. Great value ($299 for the 512GB version) and my MacBook boots up in seconds! Sure you can go faster, but I bet you won't notice a speed difference. saved, bought 16gb ram and my macbook is faster than the latest models.
