I prefer lamps that do not require a lampshade. I find that shadowless lights look more modern and attractive. (Of course, this is just my personal opinion.) The problem with my preferences is that lamps without shades also glare. It is difficult to look directly into the bulb. Half-chromed Edison KarlunKoy bulb is a good solution. I'm using one of KarlunKoy Edison's semi-chromed lightbulbs to light up the LEGO display shelf. The base of these bulbs has a gold plating on the bottom half of the bulb. The coating goes a long way to reducing glare and being easy on the eyes. Despite this, the coating does not appear to significantly reduce the light output of the lamps.
