They look best in lighting and ceiling fans

I ordered these bulbs for a lamp that does not require a shade. The lightbulb is doing its job. Looks great on your lap when the lamp is off; I can appreciate the gold finish. I would say they came with minor scratches; It didn't bother me, but maybe someone else. Ideal for luminaires at eye level; I get light but not too bright right in front of my eyes. When they get together, they look freaky.

Effectively reduces glare from lamps without a lampshade

I prefer lamps that do not require a lampshade. I find that shadowless lights look more modern and attractive. (Of course, this is just my personal opinion.) The problem with my preferences is that lamps without shades also glare. It is difficult to look directly into the bulb. Half-chromed Edison KarlunKoy bulb is a good solution. Works but not as well as they soften the light instead of blocking it

In a nutshell this is a very good lightbulb and a great idea but it's not being implemented. Blocking out the light creates an odd effect and you end up losing the bulb's effectiveness in illuminating what's underneath. It just doesn't work the way I hoped it would. What they really need to do is soften the bulb, reduce light and glare without completely blocking the light. Because of the light blocking, everything above that line and then a little below it in the room was lit, but then we lost
