Bought this as a gift for my best friend because she fell in love with mine on a recent trip. I got an old version of this speaker (without voice commands) for Christmas five years ago. My old one still works after thousands of showers, baths, 100 falls on hard surfaces, in the pool, lake, many beach days left outside in the rain. Love it! When it finally dies I will buy this newer version with voice commands. I've taken calls in the shower, bath and everywhere else and had no problem hearing or being audible to the caller. Comparing these two cases, the sound quality is EXCELLENT in both cases. Can't tell if the battery life is the same because it lasts so long, their new one hasn't needed a charge yet, but it's safe to assume it will be as it's newer. Mine lasts at least 5 hours. Yes, the "recharge battery" prompt is annoying, but it's not rocket science - charge it after using it for any length of time, except in the shower (which takes about an hour). In terms of sound quality, this little thing packs a punch! It's not Bose or Beats Pill (I've got both) but when shooting up to 11 Metallica explosions are enough to annoy the neighbors! For a $20 "shower column," I got MUCH more than I thought I would. Buy it and take your shower singing experience to the next level! Enjoy!
