I purchased this cable as a new monitor cable to connect my laptop to a Samsung monitor via my new desk's cable tray. (The previous chart had no cable runs, so my old 5 foot cable worked. Now I need at least a 12 foot cable.) This is a very good cable that looks well built. When I plugged in the cable, my laptop couldn't detect the monitor type, so it got stuck at 1280x720 and "generic monitor". I reconnected my old cable and it showed up as Samsung and 1920x1080. I pulled out my multimeter and checked the integrity of both wires. The old one was connected through every pin. This cable only had about half that. I assume it was an austerity measure. When I contacted the seller to see if it was a mistake, they just refunded my money and asked me to return the cable. I didn't give this rating a star because the cable is very durable. If you just want the basic connections, you're probably fine. The seller responded immediately with a refund. While I feel like I'm being misled, I generally agree.
