Review on Officially Licensed Nintendo Switch HORI D-Pad Controller (L) - Zelda Edition by Greg Muin

Revainrating 4 out of 5

The perfect solution to the switch d-pad problem, and here's why.

A lot of people are complaining about these Joy-Con which I would find unnecessary and completely ignorant to be honest. portable mode. Inconclusive issues considering: A) You couldn't have made it clearer that the controller isn't wireless. It's $20 for a loud scream! B) I think the portability limit is a good thing. Listen to me. The left Joy-Con replaces the D-Pad with buttons by default. Why? So every Joy-Con, whether left or right, can be played with one hand. as good buttons for EVERYONE. It would just be stupid. Either way, if you need to use the D-pad when your Switch is in docked mode, you can simply invest in a Pro controller, third-party controller, or SN30 Pro controller. This is definitely a wearable Joy-Con, and it does the job perfectly. It gets extra points by default for fitting in my Satisfye grip. I bought it to play Mega Man 11 and with zero input lag accompanied by the fact that it's very comfortable it makes my gaming experience so much better. It's a soft D-Pad that clicks pretty comfortably, if I put it that way. My only minor comment, which isn't really a problem, is that the edges of the analog stick are ribbed when you're playing a 3D game and it's a little noticeable when you give it an intent. However, once you get used to it, you will be fine. The minus and grip buttons are also soft, as opposed to the tactile press, which is surprising on first use and takes a while to get used to, but like the analog stick mentioned above, they're not too difficult to hack. I highly recommend this product to all platform game lovers. The ONLY reason I'm deducting a star is because both of my shoulder buttons got stuck for no apparent reason. I suspect something went wrong with the Joy-Con and would appreciate it if HORI could tell me why. (and what can we do about it)
