I had a nose stud that I couldn't replace because I couldn't find the lined hole when trying to insert it from the inside of my nose (you'll need to remove the insert rear first insert decorative pin behind); Browsing You-Tube I finally found a tutorial on how to make flat back nose studs. One of the commenters suggested using the "hairpin" to help and I found this article might work. My pad is screwless so I didn't think it would work at first, but I just needed something to guide the pad from the inside of my nose to the hole. It worked like magic, I put the pin's cone through the nose, then placed the backing on the end of the cone, held it by the cone with one hand and with the other pulled the cone out of the hole, I was able to wrap around the strap easily and quickly on the spot.
