You must have one of these. It has a much higher height than most brushes (65 mm). It consists of 50% mane and 50% tail. Prickly yes, but the tips are very, very soft. I've never used badger, only boar, and I've found the bowl brush to lather 3 times faster with much better foam. This is a professional barber brush, so it's better to lather than scrub. By applying it, Proraso Green can really open up and cool your face before you shave. Doesn't lather very well on the face though, probably due to the high loft. The pen is why you should own it. It is made of industrial steel with a knurled ridge on a lightweight wooden handle. It's almost as heavy as a chrome Parker ballpoint pen. If you absolutely hate the horse knot, pull it out and tie it (21mm) however you like. Neg. The thing smelled so bad for the first two weeks that I almost threw it away. Serious. A wet horse does not go well with sandalwood. Believe me. After many tricks of leaving the foam overnight and shampooing, it finally got rid of the previous owner's smell. Couldn't be happier!
