Review on πŸƒ Polar Vantage V" - The Ultimate GPS Multisport Watch for Triathlon & Multisport Training with Heart Rate Monitor, Running Power & Waterproof Design by Aashit Aashit ᠌

Revainrating 3 out of 5

I expected more from buying, but not the worst option.

Polar misled consumers twice: 1. On the company's website, Vantage is presented as a product for professionals, but - alas, the device is useless for pros and semi-pros. Disappointed. The watch will be useful only for beginners and amateurs in terms of creating and maintaining motivation for adherence to regular exercise, weight loss, etc. 2. The company also positions the watch as the best on the market for water sports. Alas, they are unsuitable for the analysis of swimming loads - they lie shamelessly. I express special contempt for Polar for the fact that access to the advanced features of Polar Flow is only given if you have purchased an expensive device like Vantage. If you only have the H10 (inexpensive but effective), then you only have access to limited Polar Beat functionality. So it goes. To everyone who swims, rows, runs, pedals, respect!

Pros
  • 1. the ability to change the standard Polar intervals for cardio loading to custom ones (in the phone application or through the browser) - see photo 2 below (light background, different widths of heart rate intervals). A useful thing for those who have undergone ergospirometry and know their levels of heart rate, lactate and oxygen consumption, 2. high accuracy of heart rate determination even at high heart rates, BUT (!) only with land loads.
Cons
  • 1. in the water / pool, the accuracy of measurement and distance, and the heart rate is poor, the data is not suitable for analysis: they significantly - by 5-7 percent - underestimate the heart rate, and, on the contrary, overestimate the distance - well, the watch does not know how to count pools normally. I am attaching 4 photos for comparison: the first 2 photos (light background) are uploading a workout from Polar Flow recorded by Vantage V, and the second 2 (dark background) are uploading exactly the same workout from Polar Beat, but recorded with a Polar H10 chest strap. In both cases, an hour-long workout was recorded in the same pool, at the same pace without stops, at the same distance (3.36 km), in the same style, only on different days. As you can see, H10 copes with "Excellent": a uniform curve corresponding to the training regime (intense stages - ups - alternate with equal non-intense - lowerings), a pronounced level of average heart rate of 151-152. And Vantage V is about nothing: a chaotic HR curve with no clearly distinguishable level of average heart rate, with deep frequent dips, leading to an underestimation of the average heart rate to 144. 2. In the water / pool, when swimming on the dial, it is unrealistic to see anything (water, glasses, constant movement of the hands), so you can not even think about the useful use of this watch on the water for professional / semi-professional purposes. 3. in land measurements (running, walking) the pace "floats" very much: you walk / run at a constant speed, and the pace readings on the clock suddenly jump up, then also suddenly fall down - see the 5th screen, the middle graph ( this is the pace with uniform unhurried walking ~ 6.5 km / h). 4. The Polar algorithm (Training Load Pro) for determining your physical condition (detraining / maintenance / efficiency / overtraining) is not suitable for professional / semi-professional purposes.

Its pros: They hold a charge perfectly, they sit comfortably on the hand, there are no complaints Cons below: There are almost no special service centers, and those that are are dead and cannot solve the problem

Got pros: Big set of sports. Good geolocation tracking. Comfortably lies on the hand. Got cons: You can not fine-tune the heart rate zones. There is a delay in reading the pulse.
