I think I was one of the lucky ones who got an older model that was better made. Recent versions of this timer appear to have made the build quality cheaper. This rating refers to the older model. I particularly like the design, the buttons are nicely placed at the top, left and bottom, which makes navigation easier without having to go to the menu. Hours, minutes, seconds left, hours, timer 1, 2, 3, 4 above, clear and start/stop and memory below. Once the countdown timer ends, it will beep. Each timer button has its own characteristic sound signal. It will beep until stopped and the timer will count backwards while it will continue to beep for one minute until stopped but the timer will keep counting forward. To be honest I don't understand the importance of reversing the timer (i.e. counting forwards, not backwards) until it stops and clears. Just a design thing I guess. It has a magnet on the back and by holding the latch on the back and tilting the little U shape (more like the top three sides of a square) you create a stand that allows the timer to stay upright. There is a switch on the back that allows you to set the timer to 12-hour or 24-hour mode. My only minor gripe is that the alarm clock is too quiet, there is no volume control which would have been handy. If you have that timer in the kitchen, which it most likely is, and let's say the TV is on, it wouldn't be hard to miss the alarm clock. That minor complaint aside, I still give it five stars for the excellent design.
