I was thrilled to find a super quality LED downlight for my home renovation project. I received the square lamp together with a dimmer that I ordered separately. My contractor asked me if this light would work with ceiling insulation to the ceiling. I wasn't sure so I called WAC Lighting customer service. I found her phone number on her waklighting dot com website - 1-800-526-2588. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that the lighting specialist is based in the USA (New York). Your specialist Dave was very helpful and knowledgeable. He immediately understood my question completely and was able to confirm that since this product is rated IC: airtight, I can fit insulation over this device without worrying about safety. My contractor said you don't need pockets with uninsulated areas on the ceiling or you risk cold spots and condensation. I was happy to hear that they are rated for isolation up to the fixture. Dave also walked me through the WAC lighting website so I had the documentation/datasheet I needed for my contractor. I love good customer service! In addition, this device is state-of-the-art, minimalist and efficient. It's also a classic look that never goes out of style. It might be a bit more expensive than your regular "can light" but it's worth it to me for getting good quality, LED and dimming capability. First I received one device to view and then ordered two more for the renovation of my apartment. This is the dimmer I have to use with this light: Lutron Diva CL dimmer switch for dimmable LED, halogen and incandescent lamps, with wall plate, each. Rod or 3-Way, DVWCL-153PH-WH, Whiteby Lutron. I will be using one of the light and dimmer switches above my desk and the other two will be connected to a separate dimmer switch for the area around my fireplace. I love the lights that I can dim for a really nice beach vibe! I can't wait to install them and will try to post an update when my revamp is complete. I wanted to share isolation information for anyone who might consider this product!
