We had another version of this door in Pet Smart that had a friction fit plastic cover to block access to the door. It took one of my cats a full 5 minutes to figure out how to remove the lid so he and his sisters could go outside on their own. It's not so much a flaw in the product as it is a cat being too smart for its own good (it didn't take long for him to figure out how to open the double doors on the door). pantry where his goodies are kept!). The fact that the skid plate not only slides down channels in the aluminum frame, but also has a knob that you have to pull out and lift to remove the bezel makes it solid unless it develops counter-thumbs (yet?)! Installation was quick and easy. even on our Plexiglas door panel. The flap's magnetic strip and weatherstrip keeps the flap tightly closed, helping to keep out weather and insects without preventing cats from using the door. And the security panel is great. I would highly recommend this pet door to anyone who has an escape master dressed as a cat!
