They look like mealworms but they are black fly larvae and are cheaper than mealworms. They are loved by cardinal thrushes and even titmice. If I could say something negative about the product, the packaging said that the larvae were bred in the PRC, that is, China. The packaging also says "Designed in the USA, Grown in China". WTF doesn't mean "Made in the USA" means I think it's an unnecessary marketing ploy to make someone think I'm buying American. The gimmick fooled me into thinking it was a good US product. Not made in the USA but I don't care. Most worms appear to have originated in China. They are well packaged in a plastic bag which is inlaid and then packed in a tuff master carton. Large whole hard worms without the crushing and dust found in most bags of expensive mealworms. I have bought this product twice and it is a high quality product and consistency with no shredded small pieces at the bottom of the pouch.
