10 Year Old Lab chases Frisbee off boat dock.

My 10 year old Lab has been on Royal Canin Labrador for her entire life. Her weight has averaged 76 and is very consistant for a female. She still, at her age, will chase her ball off the dock, and climb the swim ladder. She is my 4th dog of this size and my second Lab. We started her on this food with the puppy formula and have stayed with the adult version as recommended by our vet. She has the best health of any of my dogs. This food is worth the small amount extera it costs.

Pros
  • Excellent
Cons
  • The brand may not be readily available in all pet stores

Highly recommended by Max and Chloe Belle.

I have had working and hunting dogs most of my life. The two I have are working and hunting dogs that have been retired since puppy hood. However, they are still very active. There coats are very shiny and they do better on Royal Canin than any other food I have tried. Both are bright eyed, alert, healthy and maintain the proper weight for their age(8 and 4). The 8 year old has been on this product since he was 8 months old; the 4 year old since she got off puppy chow.

Pros
  • May improve joint function and mobility
Cons
  • The food may cause bad gas in some dogs

Didn't sit well with our dog

Our lab ate the puppy formula of this food and loved it (and we loved his shiny coat). When he was old enough, we gradually switched him to the adult formula and it caused him to have a very upset stomach. We do not blame the food entirely. We are sure his constant chewing of plants and bark in the backyard led to his upset stomach. However, even after antibiotics and a vet recommended diet of rice, boiled chicken and cottage cheese cleared up his problems, we were never able to introduce this…

Pros
  • Kibble shape and size promotes dental health
Cons
  • Some dogs may experience excessive thirst from this food

Great dog food! good for me

Our dog loves it and beat price out there. I think it’s the same quality as per smart. We have it on reorder and one a month is perfect for our 1 year old lab. She pooped a lot with other food but not this one!

Pros
  • She just loves this food. Her coat is just so glossy.
Cons
  • The bag may not contain as much food as other dog food brands

Check package upon delivery

The product itself is awesome. However, the 30 pound bag was only half full. Not noticed on delivery as it was vacuum sealed. Once opened it was very apparent that only about 15 pounds were in the bag.

Pros
  • Can help reduce bad breath and improve overall dental health
Cons
  • Some reviewers have reported their dogs experiencing lethargy or lack of appetite after switching to this brand

Great product! good for me

After years of battling with what I thaught was "pollen" allergies, turned out to be food allergies. The vet, and my GF tried to tell me it might be the food, but I did'nt listen! Finally I switched to RC, and noticed my dog had stopped licking her paws within about a week. Before the switch, she would lick her paws untill they would bleed, and scratching her ears from the build-up of wax on a constant bases. Infection would set in, and off to the vet.again!I used muzzles, e-collers, and…

Pros
  • May improve overall energy levels and behavior
Cons
  • The food may not provide enough protein for highly active or muscular dogs

9 year old lab loves this food

Our Vetinary recommended this food and our yellow lab is 9 years old and this is the FIRST food that she likes! That's my feedback.

Pros
  • Made with chicken meal as the first ingredient for quality protein
Cons
  • The formula may lack enough omega-3 fatty acids for healthy skin and coat

GIANT KIBBLE for my opinion

Fabulous food, my dog loves it and he does really well in all ways on this food. I feel good about the grains included for heart health. The kibble is HUGE though and that is bad and unhelpful if you are using it for training. I have been cutting it in half. Yes, I stand in the kitchen cutting up dry dog food like a fool, but otherwise I'd give him twice his allotted amount in just a half hour of training. If you're just giving this as food in a dish, the large size slows down the eating. Also,

Pros
  • Dry
Cons
  • The food may not provide enough fiber for dogs prone to digestive issues

Excellent ingredients!

My Labrador has a sensitive GI system and so I’m still introducing it more every few days with her previous food. She’s doing great and really loves it!

Pros
  • Helps maintain ideal body condition and helps prevent obesity
Cons
  • The kibble may be too plain or boring for some dogs

Labrador vittles in my review

He seems to like it! Just started 2nd bag so a little more time needed for a precise review. He did stop eating grass (poor thing was grazing) once we started him on Royal Canin.

Pros
  • Supports healthy aging with an exclusive combination of antioxidants to maintain cellular health and formulated with an appropriate phosphorus content to support your mature and senior dog’s kidney health
Cons
  • The food may not be as digestible as other brands

My Dogs' Only Brand

I have 2 very picky female lab/pit mixed breed dogs that only get the best. This diet has been, by FAR, the most advantageous for them out of the many I've tried. One of my girls has a highly sensitive stomach. Where dog food comes in, that is a huge thing to consider. The mixture that Royal Canin uses for this variety is perfectly tailored to their needs. My "sensitive" girl had problems with her stool being extremely loose constantly, not to mention her having to go quite a bit more often…

Pros
  • May reduce the risk of certain diseases associated with Labradors
Cons
  • The kibble may be too hard for dogs with dental issues to eat

Pros
  • Royal Canin BHN Labrador Retriever Adult 5+ Dry Dog Food is complete and balanced nutrition designed to meet the specific diet needs of maturing Labrador Retrievers 5 years and older

Great food good for me

We have been using Royal Canin Lab 30 formula for a couple of years now and our 10 year old Lab loves it. He likes the shapes of the food and it seems to give him enough sustenance (he burps after each meal). Because it's a customized food we feel it justifies the price and gives our mature dog what he needs. Ebay does a fantastic job delivering the food; it always arrives intact so it saves us from having to make special trips to Petsmart. The only thing that I would like to see is Ebay adding

Pros
  • Provides advanced nutrients, including collagen, EPA, and DHA, to support cartilage, which helps maintain bone and joint health in your large breed dog during the aging process
Cons
  • The food may not be suitable for dogs who require a grain-free diet

Best food on the market

They got this pup food right the first time. Our lab loves it and you can see the results in his coat and posture. One bag will feed that K9 friend 4 cups a day for a month. If you subscribe you can get this good cheaper than any place on the market. Since it's a big bag, nothing better than having it delivered to the doorstep. 5 stars, just ask my dog.

Pros
  • My 13 yr and 2yr Labradors love this food
Cons
  • The food may expire quickly if not stored properly

If Zoe likes it, I like it!

I've had my 10-year old Lab on this food her whole life after puppy food. She always likes it, finishes her 1-cup bowl in about 2 minutes every time. I put salmon oil over it to help with her coat and avoid itchy skin (works like a dream!). Until she decides she doesn't like it, I'll be buying Royal Canin for Zoe.

Pros
  • Aids in reducing tartar buildup on teeth
Cons
  • The food may not be suitable for dogs with diabetes or other medical conditions

The answer to our prayers

Duffy, our 50lb lab mix, as we found out, is a picky eater. We tried her on Blue Buffalo with catastrophic results (read: diarrhea) and then Purina One Smartblends Sensitive Systems, because we figured she had a sensitive tummy. She wouldn't eat it. All the while, she was having loose stool. The vet put her on Royal Canin hypoallergenic so we could suss out exactly what it was that was making her tummy upset. We found out that she loved eating the Royal Canin and became "normal" again. But, at…

Pros
  • Protein and nutrient content may help reduce allergic reactions in dogs
Cons
  • Some dogs may experience an increase in allergic reactions from eating this brand

dog likes it. vacuum packed for freshness.

dog likes it, but not sure why what there is here that makes it special for labs, our dog just gulps down the nuggets without chewing. like that the package is sealed, many times I have bought large bags of kibble only to finds holes in them later, nice to know that it’s been sealed.

Pros
  • Helps reduce the risk of bloat and other digestive issues
Cons
  • The bag may not contain enough instructions or feeding recommendations

Royal Canin - The Best Food for Labradors

Did a lot of research on dog food and found that Royal Canin designs theirs for specific breeds. For example, by adding a hole in the middle of the kibble it forces the dog to eat more slowly, a huge problem with Labadors who usually eat way too fast and gain weight much too easily. That obviously helps with digestion but also has helped to keep the weight off. And of course the food itself is of the best quality and exactly what Labs require. The food has worked well with previous Labs I had…

Pros
  • 1 Year Review.. My Lab does very well on this food...Energy is Amazing...I notic
Cons
  • Some dogs may experience gastrointestinal upset from switching to this food

Chocolate lab loves this food!

Our 75 pound chocolate lab eats a lot of food - and this food is her favorite! We started ordering on Ebay because none of our local stores carry this and it wasn't worth the gas to drive a couple hours to pick it up. The dog gets excited when the box is delivered because she knows this food is in it! She loves this food! The size and the hole in the middle of the food make it so that the dog has to slow down a bit to chew it. Our dog was never one to just inhale her food, but it does seem to…

Pros
  • May improve overall coat density and texture
Cons
  • The brand may not provide enough transparency about their animal testing policies

Good switch from Eukanuba to Royal Canin Labrador Retriever

We recently switched from Eukanuba to Royal Canin for Labradors after a recommendation from our veterinarian. Sam had no problem switching over and loves to chew his new kibble. I highly recommend Royal Canin Labrador to other Labrador owners.

Pros
  • A great choice for dogs with sensitive stomachs
Cons
  • The formula may not provide enough taurine for heart health
