I have a 17 year old cat that weighs 12 pounds. He has health issues so I bought this scale to monitor his weight weekly to make sure he isn't losing too much too quickly. The image of a miniature poodle on the scale is really misleading, I have a feeling a 6 lb mini poodle would fit nicely at that weight but there would be no room on either side. For comparison, my 12kg cat fits the scale very comfortably if I lay her down correctly. The top and bottom of the scale are not connected. So if it moves in a certain way, it can cause the scale to get a false reading, which means it has to be taken off, fixed on the scale, and then put back on it. That being said, it's a lot cheaper than the larger scale, so I'll get it working, but if you're more than a 12-pound cat and have a little patience, get the larger scale.
