Review on Effortless Control: Westinghouse Lighting 7787500 Wireless Ceiling Fan and Light Wall Control by Rex Bareham

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great way to upgrade your wiring!

We have five of these wall switches installed in our home. Our home was built in the early 90's and each ceiling fan/light was not connected via switches to a separate fan and light controller. They had to be controlled with tension chains, which was impractical in some rooms where fans hung from vaulted ceilings. We needed a way to control fans and lights separately without running additional wires, which I didn't want. There are several such remote controls that look exactly the same but have different names. These controls work fantastic, which is why we installed 5 of them. Pros: 1. Remote controls are wall mounted and therefore do not require batteries to work like most portable remote controls. 2. No beep when button is pressed; It is absolutely silent operation. 3. The buttons are responsive and control the fan and backlight without delay (we have fans from 3 different manufacturers). 4. These remote controls have light dimming function. 5. Pads included. 6. Devices stay in the wall so you don't lose an extra remote control. Cons: 1. They should be universal devices, but the receivers are very large (I don't know why they can't figure out how to make them smaller). It took some fans a lot of patience to install the receiver, all the wires and nuts in the fan bracket and fairing, but we made it through all 5 fans. 2. Smaller junction boxes are difficult to accommodate with a switch larger than most. 3. The button to dim the light is not very convenient. You have to keep the button pressed all the time to dim the light. 4. Expensive. All in all, these flush-mounted remote controls meet our requirements. We don't need to run extra wires along the walls to control the fan and lights with switches. We recommend these units!
