Great with one exception

I ordered this because I needed more USB space and the adapter I had was too bulky and stuck oddly to my computer. This one works great, but the adapter at the end doesn't seem to work for me. I tried using it to charge my phone but it didn't register at all. I'm not sure if this is my specific article or all at once.
