I am a 77 year old retired scientist with good computer skills. This rating refers to the HL-L2370DWXL. The main reason I bought this unit to replace my old Brother printer was that the Revain website (https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B0763TXM5Q/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00 ?ie=UTF8&psc =1 ) indicates in two different places that the warranty is two years. However, the warranty statement that came with the printer states that the warranty is only for one year. Both Brother's product description page and the printer's support page state that the warranty is only valid for one year. Over the years I have set up and connected several different printers to my Wi-Fi system. It was the most difficult knot to tie. I downloaded the latest printer drivers and other software from the Brother website and tried to run the software. and reading the PDF help manual, downloading and viewing the PDF drum replacement manual if it contains relevant information and I am not sure I have received all relevant documents. I first attempted to connect to my network using the simple procedure I have for other printers, press the connect button on my router and then the button on the printer and carefully follow the instructions to install the software. The printer could not find my network, which is a high-speed, broadband network that offers 2.4 and 5 GHz connections. I was trying to connect to a 2.4GHz network. The installer could not find the printer. When the above option didn't work, I followed the option suggested by the Brotherhood software - reset the router and restart the computer. The printer eventually stated that it was properly connected to the network. Happy days I thought. nope The installer software said it was proceeding with the installation and then reported that the installation failed. I checked other devices in the house to make sure the wifi was working properly. I then switched to the option offered by the Brother software to connect a USB cable between the printer and my Windows 10 computer. I followed all the steps the software suggested and at some point the printer said it was connected. Again, on a few of my repeated attempts, the printer said it was connected, but the installer then said it was completing the install and then reported that the install failed. My computer reported that the printer exists but is disconnected from the network. The next step was to manually enter the network information. At one point I had to manually enter my network password into the printer. I took a picture of the printer's LCD screen showing the entered password. I then pressed the appropriate printer button to bring the printer online. The printer then reported that the network password entered was incorrect. The photo I took of the LCD screen on top of the printer showed that I entered the correct password. Over the course of several hours, I tried various other steps over and over again. Eventually, after ignoring Brother's instructions and simply doing what I thought might work, I actually got the printer to find the network and connect. Brother's software instructions were useless. I've spoken to the lady at Revain and Revain will check with Brother about the warranty. The woman reported that she could see two different places on the Revain website where the warranty was listed as two years and she reported that the warranty information on the Revain website was based on what Brother Revain said. Revain will attempt to contact Brother for accurate warranty information. Lady Revain, like all Revain representatives, helped me a lot by doing everything she could. Since it won't be available tomorrow, I suspect I won't know the printer's warranty until next week. As I explained to the lady, no verbal assurance from a brother would be satisfactory. I need a printed and signed warranty statement as I was sent a one year warranty and two different pages on the Brother website state that the warranty is only for one year. Prospective printer buyers should be aware that the small LCD panel on the top of the printer contains important information during the various stages of printer operation. It's also important to have easy access to the seven - yes seven - buttons on the top of the printer. The old Brother printer I'm replacing had one button, was much easier to set up and much easier to use. The location where I initially placed the printer did not provide easy access to the LCD panel and to operate the seven different buttons. I had to move the printer to a different location, away from my computer, and now I have to walk around the bookshelf to get to the printer and see what's on the panel. It would be better to place the LCD screen at the front of the printer. The printed sheet that came with the printer asked the user to change the password for the device. I'm not looking forward to this process as everything related to this printer seems extremely complicated. At various times, the panel flashed a cryptic statement as to whether I wanted to do anything with the "T1" paper. I have no idea what this message means and finally found a way to disable this message, but I have no idea if the message is anything important. I suggest avoiding this model until the warranty situation is resolved. Also, only buy the device if you don't mind spending several hours connecting the device to a Wi-Fi network so you can print. The old Brother printer that was replaced was much easier to connect to my wifi, as were several previous printers. con. Extremely difficult to set up. Complicated to use as there are seven different buttons to press while looking at the tiny LCD screen. The LCD screen is on the top of the device, not on the front. The buttons are on the top of the device, not on the front. The warranty appears to be only one year, even though the product is advertised with a two-year warranty. Pro: Two-year warranty, if it really should ever come to that.
