Decent speakers for the money. I replaced a couple of old KLH speakers that were comparable to these, they were really old like they were in the 1990's but I've only been using them since 2004. I was lucky and was able to use the existing KLH mounting brackets which made the installation to made child's play. Either way, for a cheap set of outdoor speakers, this is pretty much the only option, and they're worth it. Next step would be Yamaha or Klipsch which cost around $100 or less. The weak point of these speakers are spring clamps. In my opinion they should have made them a little more reliable. The clips are spring loaded and if you're not careful the terminal knob will pop out. It's easy to put back in, so all is not lost in that case. A few hookup tips: 1) Strip a little of the speaker wire. Spring clamps work like this: you simply push the wire in the opposite direction of the spring tension and hope the wire touches the metal conductor on the other side. If you don't have enough bare wire you won't get a good connection. 2) Be very careful when opening and handling the spring clip when inserting the speaker cable. The spring clips are a little brittle in the sense that they're not a reliable design (don't call them cheap). If you are careful it will work. Final Thoughts: The speakers sound good. For this money you get what you paid for. The weak link in these speakers are the speaker wire terminals, so treat them to reflect their fragility. I'm not sure why they didn't just use screw terminals, it would probably be cheaper to manufacture and as these are outdoor speakers it would help the speaker wire which is under the screw terminal to avoid tarnishing leading to leads to deterioration in sound quality. to plan.
