Great E12 lightbulb for Hue and Homekit users

I used Philips Connected LED bulb 468926 Hue The 6W White Ambiance E12 Candelabra has been working great for the past few days. I have two options for using this bulb: First, a few years ago I was gifted a vintage light bulb that only uses an E12 bulb. My whole house supports Apple Homekit so I placed an iDevices Switch: iDevices Switch - WiFi smart plug with power monitoring, no hub required, works with Revain Alexa, on this lamp to turn on and off. Since I wanted to dim the light bulb and my house also has a Lutron, I tried a Lutron light bulb dimmer: LUTRON P-PKG1P-WH Caseta Wireless 300W/100W Plug-In Light Bulb Dimmer w/ Pico Remote Kit, White , works with Revane Alexa . This worked better as I could buy an E12 LED bulb and dim it with this dimmer. The second use case is that I have an old house with a Victorian wall light that uses an E12 bulb. The light is controlled by a small knob underneath that needs to be turned clockwise to turn it on and counterclockwise to turn it off. In this case, deleting the current Nob switch and replacing it with something else will ruin the look of the wall light. Also if I wanted to remove the nob it would be difficult as the nob is built into the wall light. It would just be too difficult to remove the button and replace it with a Homekit light switch. Since I needed the ability to not only dim the light, but also change the temperature of the light depending on the time of day, I bought this new Philips Hue bulb to use. in these two places. I already had a HUE Homekit hub, light strip, and motion sensor, so adding this light bulb was a breeze. Setup is easy as all you have to do is click the search in the Hue app and then click the button on the Hue bridge. Once this is done, the lightbulb will be recognized. Because the Hue app only works in rooms and on select devices, I rarely use their app. I use one of the many Homekit apps to control each device. The light quality is really great and being able to change the color temperature of the bulb depending on the time of day is great. So I create a set of Homekit triggers ranging from warm to white for my use. Temperature and run these triggers based on time, motion, ambient light, or a combination of both. I have an Elgato motion sensor as well as a Fibaro motion sensor and an iHome SmartMonitor. These are all Homekit devices. iHome and Fibaro products have motion and light sensors. Each of them has their own problems, but for the most part they work. I find using Homekit products much more flexible than using the Hue motion sensor because with the Hue motion sensor you are limited to pre-programmed times. You can go to Hue Labs and download extra time, but again you'll have to rely on Philips to create those extra slots. With Homekit triggers, you can create motion sensor triggers with any number of time intervals that contain the desired light intensity conditions. This Philips E12 lamp is a very good lamp. I like the brightness and the quality of the light it gives off. Dimming is very smooth. Highly recommended given the above Homekit limitations.

Pros
  • Install the LED lightbulb like a normal lightbulb by connecting it to the Hue Bridge, which allows you to control your smart lightbulbs via the Philips Hue app
Cons
  • Not sure
