Of course at this price point it's made in China, which means it contains a harmful chemical that's difficult to wash off. First boot: ER detergent and vinegar - still smells. Second attempt: baking soda and vinegar in progress. (The instructions say to keep the water temperature below 60 degrees Celsius, which is 140 degrees Fahrenheit, so washing out the chemicals is harder than if you could use really hot water.) I'll update the review once I get the smell out. Otherwise, I like the color (purple, a little lighter than the photo but still the color I wanted) and the fact that it's linen. I will update the review once I remove the smell. UPDATE 1: Researching how to get rid of the smell. Formaldehyde can be removed by soaking in baking soda and cold water for several hours. I don't know if it's formaldehyde, but soaking in baking soda and cold water for 24 hours and then running it through two washes of HE detergent helped get rid of it. I don't know if I want to work that hard to avoid breathing the toxic fumes from my bed all night or if I want to use that much water during a drought. Otherwise I like the product and the color. The fabric is still a bit stiff after all the washing and the edges of the covers need ironing, but other than that I'm happy with it. UPDATE 2: While I will NEVER go through all those hours of studying/soaking/washing tires for ANY product ever again, I'm happy now that it's on my bed. Plus: It nestles against a rather slippery ceiling, so it doesn't slip. Another minus: upon arrival, one button was almost torn off and soon fell off completely. I would have preferred a zipper as making maybe 20 buttons that are difficult to thread through loops is a huge, frustrating time-waster.
