Review on 🎧 Thieaudio Legacy 3 - Hybrid Triple Driver In-Ear Monitor (2pin, AW11) for Audiophiles and Musicians by Justin Pavelko

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Not competitive in this price range.

Pros: Honestly, there is none compared to the competition. General. They have cool clockwork visible, so probably some kind of wearable art. Cons: - Bulky, not comfortable (in general, and very strong compared to many single-dynamic IEMS drivers) - Massive V-shaped response - the most over-the-top I've heard in many years, even among budget IEMs. - Mediocre cable - Sounds comparable to many mediocre hybrid IEMs at about half the price. Overall: I was very disappointed in them and ordered them after seeing Z's review. I don't know if the ones I received were defective (I doubt it) or if my tastes are very different from Z's Z (perhaps), but they are . And even in this price range. Solid die-cast body with minimal ergonomic shape. In my opinion, they just lack the convenience and bulkiness, even compared to other 2BA/1DD IEMS. I've tried at least 6 different ear tips (silicone, deconi foam and different sizes) but bass was lacking on every try. What about the maximums? Path to peaks and I have plenty of IEMs to compare them to - they have a serious hole in the middle, then a big jump over any frequency (6-7kHz I guess), too many, inarticulate high frequencies. To my ears they were garbage. I've tried them with several amps - Fiio BTR5, Xduoo XP-2 Pro, ES 100 Mk2, Topping DX3 Pro, Drop AAA 788, Gustard H10 and even the venerable Bottlehead Crack with Speedball. the sound is even worth half its price. They outperform almost everything I own - BGVP DMG and DM6, Moondrop Starfield, TFZ Galaxy T2, BLON-03, TIN Hi Fi T2 & T3 and more. Unfortunately, these legacy headphones are more in line with the budget KZ line of headphones. For a much better overall sound at just over half the price, I found the UrbanFun YBF-ISS014 to be significantly better (at least to my taste) and arguably the most comfortable standard IEM I've tried. Unfortunately they have serious quality control issues, I didn't have 2 sets of these and ran for about 6 months before one of the headphones lost all treble or no sound at all. Too bad, otherwise they are great. Conclusion - I could have gotten a spoiled apple from many but to me, despite the positive reviews, they just aren't the quality or sound worth your money's worth. I would definitely not buy again. Stay away if you don't want to roll the dice.
