Review on Sennheiser HD 200 Professional Monitoring Headphone: Exceptional Audio Performance for Monitoring Purposes by Matthew Evans

Cheap Headphones

I bought Sennheiser HD 200 Pro headphones to replace some 35 year old Sennheiser HD 414 headphones that eventually stopped working. I originally bought the Sennheiser HD 599 on the company's recommendation as a replacement for open-back headphones. They sounded absolutely fantastic with my high quality NAD stereo amp as well as the compact TEAC unit in the bedroom. HD 599 sounded terrible with TEAC. NAD is very quiet, but TEAC seems to have a bass boost in the amp for connecting lower quality speakers/headphones or maybe listening to popular music. The HD 599 were unpleasantly booming. With the ND 200 Pro, TEAC sounds very pleasant and is not tiring. I don't even need to adjust the tone controls anymore. They go well together.
