I needed to play MP3 files that are on a network drive on my stereo. My receiver is old so it doesn't have Bluetooth or HDMI connectivity so I was looking for something that could connect my laptop to the receiver. First, I tried connecting the 3.5mm jack directly from the laptop to the receiver's aux input. It worked but the sound quality was poor. Youtube drew my attention to the DAC so I bought it and it works. I have an HDMI output from my laptop to the HDMI input of this device. and then RCA to RCA to receiver. You can then choose how many layers you want to extract. The sound is crystal clear and powerful enough to rock a room. I'm sure there are stronger units out there, but this worked for me. Great product, now I'm buying a second one.
