I am changing my review that I wrote previously. I wasn't happy at first as I seemed to be getting USB 3.0 speeds. Despite this, the dock was reliable and the speed was stable. I give two stars (for reliability). Now I give it a 5. I love plugable products - this one too. Well, the product developer wrote to me and asked a lot of questions. So I did more and more thorough testing with different hard drives and really got USB 3.1 speeds. Twice as fast as USB 3.0. When copying Acronis disk images, doubling the speed really helps. It deserves 5 stars. For some reason, backing up directly to the SSD in this docking station with Acronis seems to be faster than backing up to the internal SSD. I can't understand why, but it's great. NEXT: THIS PRODUCT IS RELIABLE! Unlike every other docking station I've tried, this one stays connected once plugged in. Other SATA docking stations fail; this one goes on. Even if I leave the drive on for a few days or a week. THIRD: will not slow down during a large copy. There is always an initial burst of speed which I consider to be an inaccurate reading (more than theoretically possible) then it stabilizes to a nice constant speed fairly quickly and STAYS THERE! He doesn't slow down when he walks. In my experience, other products slow things down. This product has become part of my standard tools that I use all the time. 5 Stars.
