The aluminum got so hot it melted the plastic

It was very easy to install. I will say this as my experience during the first bike ride, read below. I haven't been in contact with anything electrical or anything that I think would cause the aluminum to heat up enough to fry the plastic. Part. I installed it correctly on the seat tracks, was driving about 2-3 miles when I heard a chime, a few seconds later two more chimes, I continued driving not knowing what it was. I was riding alone and in a moment my Garmin computer said it had lost communication with the radar, I stopped, got off the bike and looked and a piece of aluminum was still on the bike, I had a cooling towel, me pulled it out . removed, it was literally too hot to touch, another piece of aluminum was missing, I couldn't find it on the way, you can see the scratches on the metal in the second picture, it was all black originally. rode my bike back the way I had just been, my Garmin computer finally said it had reconnected to the radar, the radar was fine when I found it, the plastic part of the mount had melted and felt also hot to the touch, I let it cool, put the radar in my back pocket and keep riding. I ended up refitting the original Garmin mount to the seatpost and haven't had an issue on a couple of rides since. I'm in shock as to how or why the aluminum got so hot it melted the plastic part of the mount. I'll look for another solution to this problem, including finding something I can slip on the back of my small saddlebag if that works.

Cons
