Review on Nikon 1 J1 HD Digital Camera System With 10-30Mm Lens (Black) (OLD MODEL) by Tamika Lewis

Very good camera for amateur photography

Firstly if you are a professional photographer don't bother with 1 series (either J1 or V1) just yet. Nikon will likely release more powerful professional cameras later in the lineup of compact systems. But for me it's perfect. I take photos as a hobby. As long as I get the frame I created as expected, my job is done. I have been using traditional Nikon SLR cameras for a long time. Because the amazing golden mean of a compact system is a new phenomenon. Also, I will not use any brands other than Nikon. Light weight saves lives. I can really take it anywhere without thinking about it. Thus, the opportunity to make an unexpected shot increases. As for settings, changing settings in this camera isn't quick. Because they are menu driven on the screen. But they work well for any flexibility. Images are razor sharp. I recommend using a Nikon lens hood. Bought with the camera. You'll be a lot less frustrated with glare, especially if you're using a lens filter (like UV or NC). By the way: A protective filter must be placed on the lens before the first picture is taken! Just my opinion to give you peace of mind that you are not touching a pristine Nikkor lens. The built-in intelligent automatic detection and focus function is as good or bad as any other camera. Because you have a human mind and the camera has an electronic mind, and the two often don't converge. Consequently, the auto area focus mode isn't always useful, except for landscapes. You want to change jobs. Unlocking the lens automatically turns on the power, which is good. The less you have to fiddle with buttons, the better. Big plans are good. There's no macro lens for the Series 1 yet (it's not a professional camera), but the small form factor allows for good close-ups. This means that most of your close-up imaging needs can be easily met. I've pretty much tested it. To say this camera is fast is almost an understatement. It's really fast for a camera in this price range. By the way, if you want to buy a replacement EN-EL20 battery, go to third party for less than $10 instead of Nikon's $40. I think the battery capacity is very good. Please note that I don't like the tiny flash that comes with the J1. Actually, I'm not a fan of flash photography, except for the fill flash. And that's why my battery lasts longer.

Pros
  • Fingers crossed
Cons
  • Hard to say
