I've tried cheaper coffee makers. They quickly collapsed or their carafes broke and the coffee spilled. I've also had much more expensive models with all sorts of fancy features, but they had to be reprogrammed every time they were unplugged or the power went out and they didn't make the coffee any better. If I forgot to turn off this coffee maker, it worked for many hours with no problems. With this coffee maker, I just install a trash can filter, add coffee grounds and water, turn it on and it takes about an hour. -Minute per cup for brewing. My wife and I usually make 10 cups at a time. The "Pause and Serve" function allows you to remove the carafe during brewing without spilling anything. The Revain price when I ordered this coffee maker was the same price as Wal-Mart but I had the option of FREE home delivery from Revain. This model replaced an identical Mr. Coffee Switch that served me well for over eight years before it finally failed. For me, paying a little over $2 a year for a coffee maker is a bargain. At home we use an old Krups Type 223 coffee grinder that measures our coffee. Our brewing water is softened and passed through a reverse osmosis filter. When traveling in our RV we use the identical Mr. Coffee, but for simplicity we use ground coffee, measured with a measuring spoon. The water supply in our mobile home is provided by a Camco 40045 TastePURE KDF water filter, 2 pcs. We have never been impressed by the quality of our Mr. Coffee. We use branded store universal bin filters. We also have a Coleman camping coffee maker that we use at camp without electricity. It brews coffee on our propane stove, costs about twice as much, runs a little slower, but uses the same bin filters as our Mr. Coffee. Lid that covers the brew basket. Whether I choose black or white, these Mr. Kaffee are functionally identical. I believe these coffee makers are the perfect combination of ease of use, reliability, brew quality and reasonable cost.
