Review on Nobsound Little Bear Turntable Pre Amplifier Home Audio by Anthony Juat

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Turn the internal gain low and it's a great preamp.

He does what he has to do. The device is clearly budget, but I don't hear any particular problems. I find it really funny that they put LEDs in lamp holders so you think they're glowing. At least it looks cool. As with many other lamp devices, it takes a few minutes to warm up before it works properly. If this sounds dark/dirty to you, wait a while. I just turn it on about ten minutes before using it so I don't have to think about it. Keep in mind that at this price point, lamps are almost always a gimmick. They mainly buy (visual) aesthetics. There is a big problem with this. The only gain control is on the board (see image: https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/51-LV%2B2lsyL.jpg). Unless you're driving an analog input with very high headroom, you'll need to set it low (mine is set high). If you apply a signal to a digital input (e.g. to digitize vinyl records), this must be switched to a low level. At a high gain setting, all modern recordings will be heavily distorted, even with -20dB gain before the ADC.
