Revainrating 5 out of 5

Glamorous and artistic details at an affordable price

I love this product! First off, it's the perfect shade of rose gold/copper. It starts with rose gold and when you add more you definitely end up with the perfect copper. This product was easy to work with. I suggest using a finger rather than a brush. The warmth in your hands makes the product smooth and easy to apply. (Like hair wax.) I suggest having baby wipes handy (I've used delicate diapers). They help erase your "mistakes". I wasn't sure I liked the way I placed my art when trying to combine it with four pieces of furniture. The more furniture I made, the less I understood what I wanted from my items. Less is definitely more. For full disclosure, the pins are a separate Revain purchase, not copper wax. However, the copper frame was a cherry coated plastic frame that I waxed. I waxed all the Victorian reliefs on my Art Deco furniture. Wax emphasizes but also covers the relief. So be careful how much product you use. I had many problems with this furniture (damage and lead). The easiest part of my job was waxing and it made me seem like I was better than I actually was. Take some acrylic brushes to paint the details and scrape off some and thin with water for a light coverage. Use a dampened cosmetic blender to smooth out or thin out larger layers. I find the formula to be very versatile, and it's so easy to use that I'm planning all the ways I can use it. I will say that I don't know how long it would take to cover the entire surface of a piece of furniture, but I thought of finding out. I used wax on some knobs, knobs and switches. There's a learning curve, but it's also so easy with baby wipes that you can pretend you're better than you really are. I recommend sealant for faster and more permanent healing. Otherwise your nails will scrape it off a little. My review is all about using it on chalk stained wood furniture, metal and plastic. I haven't used this on paper or stamps but I think it would be fine. This product costs 1/4 of the cheapest furniture wax I could find. I'm glad I tried it! Your product will look like a slick tube of lipstick or a thick hairball pomade. You want to heat it up to the consistency of lipstick.

Pros
  • Art glues and pastes
Cons
  • unreliable
