Multifunctional emergency radio. I am an avid hiker and outdoor enthusiast. I like having multiple emergency contact options. This little radio is a very nice addition to my prep bag. I am very surprised at how well it is received in the valley where I live. It receives AM, FM and the National Weather/Storm Station. It has a very bright flashlight that doubles as a distress signal when needed. On top is a fold-out reading lamp, perfect for illuminating a reading tent. The folding light is also a mini solar panel for charging the internal battery. There are two indicator lights which are a nice feature; a solid set of blue lights indicates remaining battery power and a green light that illuminates when a radio signal is reached. Green means a strong signal. There is a loud flashing siren that serves as an emergency signaling aid. There is also a switch that is a distress signal (I think); this one is silent but can send an alarm (not entirely sure). It has multiple ways to charge the internal battery, including a hand grip, a mini solar panel, and a USB port. The USB port is also used to charge other devices. I used it to charge my cell phone. Worked great. This small radio/emergency charger is ideal for backpacking when you need a power source to charge your phone off the beaten path as the hand crank takes care of charging. It also comes with a key ring and a mini compass. All in all this is a good emergency radio for any bag or just camping gear.
