Review on Sangean WR-7DK Dark Cherry Wood Cabinet Mini Bluetooth Speaker with FM Radio Tuner and Aux-in by Todd Casey

I am honored to write a review of this wonderful radio. This is without a doubt a five star product if the buyer has the right expectations, which I will now explain. First of all, it is important to note the size of this device. The photos I've seen don't give me a precise idea of how small the body is, but it's about the length of a stick of butter. The power button and volume control are about as wide as an eraser. I really like its size and I think it would look perfect on my bedside table which is why I bought it. The design is, in my opinion, the most outstanding feature of the radio. It has the same quality fit and finish as other Sangean tabletop radios. I think the design of this radio is an improvement over the venerable Sangean WR-11 as I love the backlit dial and matte finish of the WR-7 radio's dark cherry block. If anyone from Sangean is reading this, know that I will also be an instant buyer of the full-size WR-7. Here I think buyers should have reasonable expectations. Sangean tunes its radio speakers to get a FLAT frequency response. The sound is similar to studio monitor headphones, which can be disappointing for those expecting powerful bass. If you're looking for overly emphasized bass, the Sangean isn't for you. Anyone who, like me, values a flat frequency response will love the sound of this radio. As a former radio station audio engineer, I love hearing the unique processing characteristics of each FM station on this radio. Anyone who listens to talk or sports radio will be pleased with the balanced sound of the voices. Music connected via Bluetooth has a clear, neutral sound that can fill a medium-sized room if the radio is placed in the optimal location. If you are initially unhappy with the sound, give the radio time to settle in and experiment with placing the radio in your room. Pay special attention to the fact that I said "room"; I strongly believe that this radio should not be used outdoors. The battery life is impressive and far surpasses other Bluetooth speakers I've had before. Please note that charging the battery will take some time and therefore the user must plan listening to long forms accordingly. Also note that there will be interference when connected to an FM signal and this is not Sangean's fault. The radio works best when the FM antenna is connected and the device is running on battery power. Many thanks to Sangean for developing another outstanding desktop radio.
