In the car/truck/boat etc. everything has to be melted down. I have used them on a golf cart for 12v accessories and on a go kart for the horn and lights. Since neither the golf cart nor the go-kart have a fuse panel, it was easy to add accessories safely. I've personally seen a car burn down because someone didn't put a fuse on their amp. A short circuit can make a wire very hot unless it's melted, and a super hot wire can ignite anything around it. Do not risk fire, install a fuse of the correct size for the intended load and wire size.
