So far this screen protector is amazing. I can't tell you whether or not it will protect your screen from shattering on impact and I won't test it. But it seems hard to scratch. I had it in my pocket and my keys made a nice dent but it popped right out and you can't even tell. It's a little harder to install than a peel and stick proctor. This requires extra attention and I think it's worth it, it also helps prevent lint/dirt particles from getting under the protective cover. I bought a pack of two and was glad I did because I ruined the first one by gluing the wrong side down. All my fault. It fits easily on my Otterbox protection and seems to have some dirt resistance. I would recommend this screen protector for the Galaxy 8 plus. Just follow the instructions in the video and you shouldn't have any trouble installing it.
