Overall a good table radio with basic functions. More like 4.5 stars. What matters to me is that it can use an external antenna. My benchmarks for comparison are the now-defunct Boston Acoustics Receptor and the Cambridge Soundworks bare-bones model. I also have a couple of Grundig Monster tube radios from the 1960's with two speakers. The sound stands out from the rest. I live in a valley about 35 miles from the stations that interest me most. My bedside table is in an area near a Faraday cage. I am currently using the rabbit ear antenna that comes with the SDR dongle. I can easily get the station I want to wake up to, including RDS data, which I couldn't do with my current portable device. The control scheme is appropriate. The power button is noticeably different from the rest, and the volume and settings controls are in their usual places. Setting the alarm is fairly easy although I had another Sangean radio and the procedure is similar. I know some people have had trouble with that. The faux wood body is a bit distracting and the RDS logo on the front looks flashy, but the price was right. Missing features that may interest some people are Bluetooth and internet radio. It has an aux input and a line output. I would give 5 stars if the cosmetics were a little different. Functionally it's great.
