I was a keen no-bumperer until our son woke us up in the middle of the night screaming in pain and up to his thighs in the slats of his crib. . He was so stuck that I couldn't easily pull his leg out. He was (and still is) what I call an aggressive sleeper (just like his dad! You know them, they snap and roll and pull on the covers!). I bought them because I didn't think my heart could take another scream like that. They're breathable so I never had to worry about him getting too close to him and they don't carry weight so he couldn't use them as a launch pad over the side of the crib. Win win - and we all slept much better.
