Revainrating 4 out of 5

Quiet and breathable

Update 20210717 Below: Upgraded a fan in the house and was looking for something easy to go into the bedrooms. The main consideration was being a DC and having a remote that wasn't junk would be a plus. I stumbled across Ovlaim, a brand I had never heard of before and the price was right to try. I was able to buy 3 fans for a little more than the price of one of the big brands. As usual with Revain, the fans arrived quickly with no damage to the boxes and I was pleased to see that they looked quite modern and personal. Pros: - Price. For DC these fans were a very good buy as most major manufacturers cost around $300 per fan. noise level. In operation, the fans are almost silent. Style. They look quite modern with a brushed nickel body and dark wood blades. Remote control. It's nice to be able to directly select the speed or have a timer to turn off the fan. - light. Having an integrated LED is great as I have one less bulb to worry about and the light is a very pure white which is what I was aiming for. - installation. It was an interesting setup as the power cords connect to the ceiling mount and there is a simple remote control plug on the other side. You don't have to cover the wires. Cons: Flashlight plastic body. There's no getting around that, the light cover looks like cheap plastic. I knew it would come at a price, but it cheapens the overall look a bit. Leaving it out is not an option as the LED ring is underneath which would look worse. Every time you press something on the remote control, the fan beeps. It's nice to know that the key has been registered, but it's a bit noisy and can be annoying in the middle of the night. - Fan speed. This thing moves a lot of air even at the lowest speed, I haven't had to turn it past 2 and it goes all the way up to 6. Sometimes I wish it had a setting just below the current '1. '.- Installation. Because the power goes straight to the mount, there's not a lot of room to maneuver, and since it's almost ceiling level, there's not a lot of room to work. Also make sure you have a small flat head screwdriver for it. All of the screwdrivers of this size that I had were Phillips and I had to use the screwdriver from the eyeglass repair kit. In general, I'm very happy with the fans. Each installation went faster than the last because I understood the requirements. Once on top they worked well and moved a lot of air. Even though they're only 48-inch models, I think they could cool a fairly large room if they were on. When the time comes for another fan in the living room or on the porch I will definitely be using Ovlaim again. The next project will be to get Bond's home bridge and see if I can connect these fans to Alexa. If it works I'll update the review to let everyone know if there are any major issues. note to view the screenshot and send as a gift. I did this and they sent an outlet with a shelf. This did not reflect my review of the product, just wanted people to know that I received a bonus item from the original purchase. I also bought a Bond Bridge to see if fans would work with it and I'm happy to say they do! I have an Echo Show in my kitchen and a bridge about 2 feet away that I use to control a fan in my office. Setting up the app was quick, but adding all the features via the remote took about 10 minutes. Press the button while the bridge is waiting for a signal, then confirm. I got bored after a few programs and didn't add longer shutdown timers since I don't use them, especially now that I can control the device with my voice. That didn't solve my initial fan issues, but it's a good way to add smart home functionality without having to buy a fan with a built-in module.
