This review was updated on April 22, 2021 - When I read that the new Foscam cameras support Alexa I've wanted this G2 model since my previous model , which I installed in May 2017, has proven to be very good. G2 did it 2 years before the elements and the ants destroyed it. I ordered a new one and was happy to see the app was updated and installing and adding the new G2 was much easier this time. You scan the QR code on the camera with the phone app when you are connected to the same Wi-Fi network you want the camera to work on, then the camera "looks" at the QR code generated by the app code and you're done. Very easy. They even play a short video on the app screen to show you how. Setup was quick and easy with detailed step-by-step instructions. You can connect an RCA video and audio cable to hear the camera's reactions if you'd like, but it's not required. (It can be used like an old-school security camera with a LAN cable and an RCA A/V cable.) You can connect it to a LAN cable if you prefer, or use the included power adapter. Connecting to Wi-Fi is easy and you can place the camera outdoors with a suitable outdoor power outlet and everything else will be wireless. You can control the camera and view images and live streaming with the phone app, or use a PC and web browser for advanced setup and control. Foscam has free tools for this purpose. You can even program an FTP connection to upload files to a server and use the free cloud subscription tier or upgrade to one of the available enhanced cloud storage plans. Daytime colors are quite realistic. This model has a brand new function to detect movement of only one person or all movement. I had a few questions about adding a new camera and setting up my paid cloud account with Foscam, and Yiko dealt with my email inquiries quickly and efficiently. in customer support. No usual hours or days of waiting for a reply and permission - Yiko received my replies within minutes from the other side of the world - Hong Kong. Thank you Yiko! I have installed and tested 8 models of security or IP cameras from 5 brands at my home and church and Foscam was by far the easiest to set up and maintain. And 2 Foscam models were cheaper than both.
